Triple C

Born and bread in South London, both of my parents are Trinidadian so grew up listening to soca and calypso. When I got to secondary school, I was introduced to LoversRock, Soul and Reggae.
I was a late starter when it came to buying music. It wasn’t until the nineties that I started buying my own music and fell in love with RnB.
The only time I stopped was when I had my children. When my youngest was 4 years old I decided to work for myself and did photography classes but in the end couldn’t afford all of the equipment needed. Someone suggested designing, so I got to work and taught myself photoshop. It took a year before I got my first job. I did flyers for the likes of Tony Montono, Tony P, Satisfaxion and designed book covers for a black publishing house. In the end the demand for flyers slowly went down hill when Facebook came onto the scene and people realised that they could advertise for nothing. By then I had some family matters to deal with. So I had to put everything to one side.
In 2014/15 Tony Montono told me about Mixlr and where I found so many different radio presenters to listen to. Once my children had gone to bed that’s where I was. Septi was one of many radio presenters I used to listen to. He told me I knew music and I should give it a go. So for a laugh I did. Not thinking for a moment that anyone would even listen to me, but they did thanks to Septi, he told everyone. I did my first show in November of 2015 on mixlr. In August 2016 I got onto my first radio station, Juice UK London. H from New Attraction had been asking me for months and in the end I agreed. It was exciting times for me but unfortunately it didn’t last long. My son had a bad accident which forced me to leave after only doing two shows. I continued to upload mixes onto mixcloud every now and then. I wasn’t sure if I would ever be able to go back to live radio.
Jumping forward 5 months to January 2017.
I came back to radio, but this time, with floradio and my shows were pre-recorded which suited my situation at the time. Shortly after starting at flo, I was also asked to go onto Raw Soul and I only agreed providing I could do a pre-recorded Slowjamz show.
Six months later life took another turn and I left Raw Soul.
I decided to stay on at floradio where I have been ever since. Whilst being at floradio I have gone back to designing.
In January 2018 my partner & I launched our first Groundbreakin People’s Choice Awards after only three months of planning. The Groundbreakin People’s Choice Awards was put together to reward and acknowledge the achievements of Independent Soul Artists in the UK and abroad.
I produced all of the media content, artwork, building the website etc. Together we hit all of social media platforms ending with an online Awards ceremony which we did on Facebook live on April 2018
PCA 2017 Hosted by Wayne Antoni and J-Man from the Gemini Experience
Our second awards was held in The Streatham Space Project on 17th March 2019.

Our Third Awards was held at Rich Mix in Shoreditch on March 14th 2020.

We are now looking forward to the 2020 Awards to be held in 2021.
In the meantime I continue to do my shows on floradio but the only difference, after doing three years of pre-record, is that I have gone back to doing two live shows, Tuesday’s 8-11pm playing New and Current Soul Music.
